Proclaiming the Good News

PATTERSON BAPTIST CHURCH:

SCRIPTURE:

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God. Therefore, the Bible is without error (inerrant) in its original manuscripts and is our authority in all matters.

THE GODHEAD (TRINITY):

We believe in one God eternally existing in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the only begotten eternal Son of God) who was miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit; born of the Virgin Mary; lived a sinless life; died on the cross as the substitutionary, all-sufficient atoning sacrifice for all the sins of men; was buried; bodily arose from the dead; ascended into heaven; is seated on the right hand of the Father interceding for believers; will return again to claim His bride the church; and will judge the world.

MANKIND:

We believe that all people were created in the image of God but through sinful disobedience fell from a state of innocence. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

SALVATION:

We believe that the forgiveness of sin and salvation is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and that there is salvation in no other. Salvation is by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ and not of any works of man.

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE:

We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.

THE CHURCH:

We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head and whose members are those who have truly received Jesus Christ by faith.
The purpose of the church is to glorify God by serving Him through Christian ministry to the body of believers and to the lost world as well as sharing the Gospel locally and throughout the world.
